The Math Hub has developed two new modules under Basic Tutorials. The first one is Exponents and the second one is Introduction to Trigonometry. If you have not already viewed the Math hub, it features interactive resources on math study strategies, overcoming math anxiety, and math language, among others. You can direct students to the Hub/modules or you can link directly to content on your library or learning centre website.
Interactive math readiness modules are also now available for students to help them learn math and prepare for their math studies at college. These modules have a diagnostic for students which helps them to pinpoint their areas for development.
A new module on Personal Pitches has been added on the Digital Skills Hub. The new module explains how students can create their own “elevator pitch” videos as a way of promoting themselves to potential employers.
A Digital Portfolio module has also been added to the Digital Skills Hub. This module walks students through the process of creating a website portfolio to showcase their work. It includes tips to help them choose a tool as well as recommendations for what sections and information to include.
An Indigenous matters video has been added to the Indigenous inclusion module in the Faculty Toolkit hub.
The Writing Hub continues to cover aspects of the writing process, including planning, structuring and revising your writing, it now includes a section on ‘Types of Writing’, which includes academic/essay writing, emails and summaries.
The Videos module on the Digital Skills Hub has been updated. The redesigned module combines the previously separated instructions for animated and live-action videos into one tutorial and adds new videos on how to use various tools. It also adds instructions for Screencasting videos.
The Building Websites module has also undergone a refresh. In addition to updated content, this module now covers issues including privacy, security, and updates as they relate to websites.
The Digital Skills Hub now also includes a module that directs users to a variety of resources where they can find free (open licensed) media to use in their projects.
In September 2020, The Learning Portal had 37,059 sessions compared to 14, 311 in September 2019. We are always open to feedback to increase our reach in supporting students and faculty.
