What’s New

The Learning Portal has some exciting updates and changes to share. Wishing everyone a successful Fall semester. Feel free to reach out to the Learning Portal team at info@tlp-lpa.ca if you have any questions or suggestions.

Nursing Math Tutorial

A reminder that the Learning Portal has added a a ‘Nursing Math- opens in a new window’ tutorial to the ‘Basic Tutorials- opens in a new window’ on the Learning Math Hub- opens in a new window. The tutorial covers everything from building upon nursing-specific foundational math concepts such as decimal notation and arithmetic operations, to areas where nursing students often struggle and may require extra support, such as calculating medication dosages, monitoring intake/output, and determining IV flow rates.

The Learning Portal team adapted content from Centennial College’s Math Learning Centre as well as gathered input from various subject matter experts. The team also added some activities and videos to enhance the learning experience. Please share the tutorial with your library colleagues, learning centre/tutoring staff and nursing faculty.

What’s Updated

TLP Revisions

After extensive consultation with College Libraries Ontario (CLO) over the last year the Learning Portal team has made changes to several Hubs and eliminated 2 Hubs.

The Learning Online Hub was refined to focus more on digital tools, including generative AI and computer skills as learning has moved to a mix of in person, hybrid and online learning.

Job Resources and Health & Wellness Hubs have been removed from the Learning Portal. Some of the key content from those Hubs have been moved to other Hubs. For example, résumé and cover letter writing support can now be found in the Writing and Communications Hub under ‘Résumé Writing & Career Preparation’- opens in a new window. Some of the Health & Wellness content can now be found in the Study Skills Hub under ‘Health & Wellness- opens in a new window’ and ‘Resilience’- opens in a new window.

The Hubs that have been removed from the landing page of the Portal remain ‘hidden’ but still accessible to those that have reused or linked to the content, but those Hubs will no longer be updated and maintained.

If you have any questions or concerns about the revisions to the Learning Portal, please reach out - info@tlp-lpa.ca

What’s Coming

Métis Content for Maamwi

The Maamwi Hub- opens in a new window was created to foster collaboration and knowledge sharing among Ontario’s colleges and Indigenous communities and aims to provide a centralized resource that promotes a deeper understanding of Indigenous knowledge systems and practices within the context of higher education.

To continue to support our students and faculty, as well as our Indigenous communities, the Learning Portal is enhancing the Métis content in the Peoples & Communities- opens in a new window section of the Discover- opens in a new window module. This new content will be inclusive of Métis perspectives, highlight Métis specific research, and reflect the unique, diverse and culturally significant perspectives of the Métis.

Thank you for being part of our community. We're committed to continuously enhancing your experience and providing valuable resources to support your journey. Explore, learn, and grow with us!

Best regards,

The Learning Portal Team
