Welcome to the Learning Online Hub (Hub 1 of 9)

Learning online has distinctive challenges and opportunities. You’re probably used to the format of in-person learning, and learning online may be a new experience. This hub covers some strategies and tools that will help you be successful learning online, including support with motivation, help using new technology, and techniques for effective studying.

Top Tips

  • Hold yourself accountable. Set realistic goals and commit to them. Get a friend to help you stay on track.
  • Practice time management. Stay in control of your learning and responsibilities by planning ahead.
  • Create your workspace. Have a regular study space and stay organized.
  • Branch out! Eliminate distractions. You don’t have a physical classroom, so learn and study in a space where you can focus.
  • Establish a routine. Set up a daily well-balanced schedule that includes self-care, studying, exercising, learning and relaxing.
  • Figure out how you learn best. Knowing your learning style will help you figure out strategies to help you learn.
  • Actively participate. Ask questions. Form online groups. Ask questions in online lectures, or email your professor. Form online groups.
  • Get support. Talk to friends or family. Seek services at your college.
  • Do one thing at a time. Don’t try to multi-task assignments and other tasks; give each task your full attention.
